Why Learn Cybersecurity

Cybersecurity professionals are on the front lines of digital defense for companies, protecting their critical systems and sensitive data from cyberattacks. With cybersecurity professionals in high demand, the cybersecurity field offers endless career and financial opportunities. According to Glassdoor, the average entry-level Cyber Analyst salary in the United States is $71,751. Some senior positions can earn upwards of $380,000 annually or more. Obtaining additional security clearances can potentially increase cybersecurity salaries.

The Demand for Cyber Talent

The opportunity is massive in both Ohio and across the United States. According to research from cyberseek.org, in Ohio alone, there are currently over 10,000 open cybersecurity roles and a very low supply of cybersecurity talent.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of information security analyst positions will grow 33% in the next 10 years.

Nationally, there are over half a million cyber jobs that employers are looking to fill. Businesses actively seeking cybersecurity professionals span across all industries and sizes, and they include local high-tech employers like Northrop Grumman, Paycom, and General Dynamics, to name a few.

These companies are hiring for roles like Cybersecurity Specialist, Network Security Engineer, and Vulnerability Analyst. Grads studying the Cleveland State Cyber Bootcamp curriculum have been hired for all of these roles—and more.
